Cookie and Similar
Technologies Policy
This policy explains how Yeo Valley Farms (Production) Limited (trading as “Ubley”) (“Ubley”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on the Ubley website. Yeo Valley Farms (Production) Limited is incorporated in England and Wales under company number 01283809 and has its registered office at Yeo Valley HQ, Rhodyate, Blagdon, Somerset, BS40 7YE.
This policy applies alongside our Website Privacy Notice. It reflects the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003 (“PECR”), the UK General Data Protection Regulation (“UK GDPR”), the Data Protection Act 2018 and relevant amendments made by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your browser or device when you use a website. Similar technologies include pixels, tags, scripts, local storage, software development kits, link decoration and device fingerprinting. PECR applies when we store information on, or access information from, your device, whether or not that information is personal data.
Session cookies usually expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until their stated expiry date or until you delete them. First-party technologies are set by us; third-party technologies are set by another organisation whose service appears on our website.
2. When we need your consent
We ask for your consent before using any technology that is not covered by an applicable PECR exception. Consent must be freely given, specific, informed and indicated by a clear affirmative action. We do not treat silence, continued browsing, closing a banner or a pre-ticked setting as consent.
No cookies or similar technologies, other than those that are strictly necessary, are placed on your device, and no tracking takes place, on any page of our website before you have made a choice. Nothing optional — including analytics, advertising and social-media technologies — loads until you have made that choice.
Our consent interface offers clear and equally accessible choices to accept or reject non-essential technologies and to manage preferences by purpose. Non-essential technologies remain disabled unless and until you consent. Refusing them will not prevent access to the core website, although optional features may not function.
You may withdraw or change consent at any time through “Cookie Settings” in the website footer. Withdrawal is as easy as giving consent and does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. We may ask you to choose again if our use changes, your consent record can no longer be recognised, or after an appropriate interval.
3. Technologies that may not require consent
We may use a technology without consent only where the legal requirements for an exception are met. These exceptions may cover: transmitting a communication; providing a service you explicitly request where the technology is strictly necessary; collecting information solely for statistical purposes to improve the service; adapting appearance or functionality to your stated preference; or identifying location solely to provide emergency assistance.
Where we rely on the statistical-purpose or appearance exception, we will give you clear information and a simple, free means of objecting. We assess each purpose separately. If one technology serves several purposes, consent is obtained for every purpose that is not exempt.
4. Categories we use
Strictly necessary: used for core functions requested by you, such as security, fraud prevention, network management, authentication, load balancing and remembering your privacy choices. These cannot be switched off through our consent tool where the applicable exception is met.
Preferences and functionality: used to remember choices and provide enhanced features. We use these without consent only where the appearance exception applies and a simple means of objecting is provided; otherwise we ask for consent.
Analytics and performance: used to understand use of the website, detect errors and improve performance. We use these without consent only where every condition of the statistical-purpose exception is met, including offering a simple, free means of objecting. In all other cases we ask for consent.
Advertising and social media: used to measure campaigns, build or infer interests, personalise advertising, limit repetition, enable social-media features or track activity across services. We ask for consent before using these technologies.
5. The technologies currently in use
The cookie-preference centre identifies each technology, its provider, purpose, category, whether it is first-party or third-party, and its duration. It forms part of this policy and is updated when our website or suppliers change. The technologies set out below reflect our current website. Strictly necessary technologies are active at all times; every other technology is set only after you have chosen to accept it.
The following strictly necessary technologies are always active, because the website cannot work securely without them:
The following technology is optional and is set only if you choose to accept it:
6. Personal data, lawful basis and sharing
Some technologies process online identifiers, IP addresses, device and browser information, approximate location, page interactions, referral information and consent records. Where PECR requires consent and personal data is processed, we normally rely on consent under the UK GDPR for that processing. Where a PECR exception applies, we identify an appropriate UK GDPR lawful basis, which may include legitimate interests, depending on the circumstances.
We may share information with service providers that host, secure, maintain, analyse or support the website, and with advertising or social-media partners where you consent. We require processors to act only on our instructions and protect the information. More detail about recipients, retention, international transfers and your data-protection rights is provided in our Website Privacy Notice and, where relevant, in the preference centre.
7. International transfers
Some providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where UK data-protection law applies, we use a lawful transfer mechanism, such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or another permitted safeguard, and carry out any required risk assessment.
8. How to control technologies
Use “Cookie Settings” in the website footer to accept, reject or change optional categories. You can also delete or block cookies using your browser or device settings. Browser controls may not remove other forms of storage or prevent every tracking method, so the preference centre is the primary control for our website. Blocking strictly necessary technologies may cause requested services or security features to stop working.
9. Contact and complaints
For questions about this policy or our use of cookies and similar technologies write to Yeo Valley Farms (Production) Limited, Yeo Valley HQ, Rhodyate, Blagdon, Somerset, BS40 7YE. If your concern relates to personal data, you may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. We ask that you contact us first so that we can try to resolve the issue.
10. Changes to this policy
We review this policy and our consent arrangements when our technology, suppliers, purposes or the law changes. Material changes will be highlighted through the website or consent interface where appropriate.
